The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Workforce Division
The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Workforce Division, previously known as the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development, works to improve the job training and marketability of Georgia’s workforce and drive future economic growth for the state. The Division was established to implement state workforce development policy and administer the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds under the leadership of the State Workforce Investment Board (SWIB).
The Division works with macro-level workforce and employment issues to help Georgia be competitive economically in the Southeast, the nation and across the world. The office believes in the importance of soft-skill education for career success.
HomeSafe Georgia is a federally funded, state-operated mortgage assistance program that helps homeowners avoid foreclosure. A homeowner who became unemployed or under-employed through no fault of his/her own within the last 36 months may be eligible for the Mortgage Payment Assistance program.
Offers job placement services, Unemployment Insurance service, and job search for job seekers. Assists employers with hiring needs. With the Workforce Investment Board, co-sponsors resource centers include assistance with resume writing and job applications, typing tests, Internet job search service, FAX machine to fax resumes and job applications.
This is an online service provided by the Spalding County Collaborative for Families and Children (SCCAFC) and the Spalding County Department of Family and Children Services. It is a useful site providing up-to-date resource information (for items such as food, clothing, housing, medical service, employment, support groups, education, substance abuse counseling, transportation, etc.) for our community.
Georgia Veterans Online One-Stop
The Gerogia Department of Economic Development has teamed up with agencies from across the state to deliver a one-stop shop for Georgia veterans: www.operationworkforce.com. This online portal is where veterans can search for jobs, post their resumes, access veteran services and much more.
Trade Five Campaign
Trade Five campaign is designed to educate young people on the value of learning a trade, dispel their misconceptions about the skilled trade industry and inspire them to consider building a career as a skilled tradesman. Through this public awareness effort, public relations and social media campaign, Trade Five aims to provide better opportunities for craft tradesmen, more highly skilled employees for businesses and enhanced economic development for Georgia and the nation.

Established as Green Thumb in 1965 and renamed in 2002, Experience Works is a national, nonprofit organization that offers training, employment and community service opportunities for mature workers age 55 and older.
Administers the following programs: Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Medicaid, Food Stamps, Employment Services, Childcare Assistance, Foster Care, Child Protective Services, Adoption Assistance, and other relief services. Referral system to other agencies and faith organizations for clothing, food, housing and utility assistance. We welcome volunteers who can assist in our efforts.
