| TRRC TIA and Broadband Update - November 3, 2011 - Thursday, November 03, 2011
The TRRC has uploaded the final documents for the transportation investment act (TIA) to its website. Resources can be found in the downloads section under the Transportation Investment Act (TIA) 2010 heading. The TRRC intends to work with local governments between January 2012 through June 2012 to increase public awareness about the regional TIA project list, and the TRRC will schedule town hall style meetings in every county during that six month period.
The TRRC has done a broadband analysis of the region, and those maps are located in the downloads section. The broadband analysis was conducted to determine where broadband exists within the region, and to identify areas that need improved high speed internet access. The TRRC is currently discussing the broadband map with its member governments, and will decide which actions to take once those discussions have concluded.

| HB 277 Presentation - Friday, June 25, 2010The Three Rivers Regional Commission invited the GDOT Director of Planning, Todd Long, to discuss House Bill 277 at its regularly scheduled meeting on June 24th. The purpose of the discussion was to provide an overview of the bill, and demonstrate how City officials, County officials, and the Three Rivers Regional Commission can work together to develop a viable TSPLOST project list that will help to address our region’s transportation needs. The meeting was attended by approximately 150 representatives of the region’s city and county elected officials, and transportation planning professionals from several counties. A powerpoint of the presentation is provided below.

| HB 277 - Thursday, May 20, 2010The House and Senate overwhelmingly passed HB 277 which was reported out of the House and Senate Transportation Funding Conference Committee. This legislation is very similar to Governor Perdue’s transportation proposal and allows for a regional one percent transportation sales tax based on regional commission boundaries. The process to start developing a project list begins this summer and the referendum to approve the tax is scheduled in every region of the state, except those that opt out, in July 2012. In the metro Atlanta region, 15% of the funds will be returned based on a modified LARP formula to each county and city for discretionary local transportation projects.
